We recognize the potential in every student and honor the unique qualities of each learning community.

We partner with schools and nonprofits to serve middle, high school and non-traditional learners with customized, inclusive and progressive programs. We “meet students where they are” with a combination of on-site programs, wilderness and urban adventures and multi-day expeditions. Through close collaboration with our partners, we grow student leadership and positive learning communities.

STRIVE is a collaboration between Open World Learning Community and Voyageur Outward Bound School. STRIVE pairs a cohort of young male students “on the cusp of greatness” with Outward Bound instructors for a comprehensive and dynamic multi-year program to build community, confidence and skills for life. STRIVE students graduate to greater responsibility through a combination of on-site Launch programs, off-site Insight Adventures and multi-day Peer Leadership Expeditions. Voyageur Outward Bound School’s Theory of Change sets us apart. We are nationally recognized as a leader in experiential education.

In partnership with the Susan Crown Exchange, the Weikart Center for Youth Program Quality and the University of Minnesota, we continue to hone our high-impact and validated curriculum. We match student development with appropriate activities and relevant social and emotional learning themes. Highly trained, compassionate instructors facilitate hands-on learning that applies to real life. Our Theory of Change is a blueprint for student success and group development.
